Manta Dive – or snorkel if you don’t scuba. This is one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Truly over the top!

Jack’s Diving Locker ( )

My husband and I love the family owned coffee farms. They are nestled in the cloud forest up the mountain from The Kona Reef. I can’t tell you exactly how to get there because we usually just get in our car and drive; we pull over whenever we see something interesting. Many of the farms give little free tours and you can taste the coffees they grow.

Here are some links for you to check out:

Hula Daddy Kona Coffee ( )

Mountain Thunder ( )

A beautiful site is Akaka Falls We drove there. The scenery is amazingly beautiful.

Go Hawaii/Akaka Falls State Park ( )

Are you venturing into Hilo? It is the other side of the Big Island. There is a Farmer’s Market that is supposed to be 1 of the best in the world. Open every day but Fridays until 4 pm. It’s a long drive, about 2 hours, so I would go early and try to drive back before dark. The roads aren’t well lit and very curvy, also it rains a lot there.

Kamehameha Ave & Mamo Street, Hilo, HI 96721

If you like snorkeling, you can try the Body Glove Boat or the Hula Kai. Both take you out to great places to snorkel and see dolphins.

Here are their websites:

Fair Wind Hula Kai ( )

Wicked Wahine ( )

Lobster Farm

73-4460 Queen Ka’ahumanu Hwy #103, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 (808) 329-4332

You can buy all types of shellfish here. The best thing we did was buy some lobster tails and grill them on BBQs at The Kona Reef – delicious! And beautiful with the sunset!

Here is their website: Kona Cold Lobster ( )

I hope that gives you some more ideas. Another thing we do is go to the pool at The Kona Reef and talk to the other guests. Many have been coming to Kona for decades, some live there. I always ask “what is their favorite thing to do”.  You get some good ideas and meet some interesting people!

I’d love your feedback after your trip!
